What make us remain in the middle ages materially are six illnesses. They are as follows:

First: Despair became widespread among us.
Second: Honesty disappeared in the political life.
Third: Love of enmity.
Fourth: Being ignorant of the luminous ties that connect people of belief to
one another.
Fifth: Despotism that becomes widespread like infectious diseases.
Sixth: Working for one's own interest only.”
